WSC’s youth sailors hosted youth sailors from Vancouver Lake Sailing Club on May 15 for what is the “kickoff” event of the 2011 season for WSC’s youth sailors. The regatta was two events in one: the Toe Island Cup, which is our brand new WSC Youth Double-Handed Championship trophy, and also the first event of a new series, the Cascadia Interclub Racing Circuit (CIRC). The CIRC is a new local series intended for young sailors who are just beginning to sail in regattas. There will be another CIRC July 30 at VLSC as part of their Mid Summer regatta, and we hope to expand to include kids from the Columbia River programs as well as further south, in an attempt to help grow Youth Sailing in our region.
