Portland Boat Show

Mark your calendar for the 2011 Portland Boat Show. The show will be going on from January 11th – 15th. General Admission is $10.00, but in exchange for volunteering at our booth, WSC will pay for your ticket.

Are you ready for the big boating event of the year? The Portland Boat Show returns to the massive Expo Center (the only group of buildings big enough to hold the show). Boaters are going to enjoy a great show this year with longer hours, an updated floor plan, plenty of new and returning boat lines to discover, more than 200,000 square feet to explore and a full 5 days to see it all.

For more than 50 years the Portland Boat Show has been one of the biggest – all indoor – boat shows in the region. Each year the show looks for the most attractive features, seeks the newest boat designs and provides an abundance of boating choices for all boating aficionados. The Portland Boat Show is set to launch on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. It is important for boaters to note you have 5 days to make your best deal with hundreds of boats on display including sailboats, cruisers, pleasure craft, countless sport and fishing boats.

Of course, the big draw for Northwest boaters is seeing what’s new in boat lines, technology and accessories. Every year, manufacturers and dealers bring in their latest designs for introduction. Expect plenty of new boat lines this year, and see what’s new from a wide range of manufacturers and dealers. Plus, some dealers will bring in last year’s models with their new inventory for the ultimate in price selection and negotiation!

Special Feature: People who have experienced a fire on a boat report that they had just one minute to control the fire, before the smoke and flames drove them out of the boat cabin. Once that happened, most had no choice except to abandon ship and watch as the boat burned to the waterline and sank. This underscores the importance of knowing where your fire extinguishers are, and how to use them correctly. The Ft Vancouver Squadron of the US Power Squadrons will be providing hands on digital fire suppression training at their booth, and it will be demonstrated every 20 minutes throughout the show.

The Portland Boat Show has also marked the start of the boating season for local dealers and boating enthusiasts in the Northwest. The show accounts for a strong amount of business for local dealers, as hundreds of boats are sold during the show. The show is a very important business stimulus for dozens of small and large companies
