Rules: This regatta will be governed by ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016 and the prescriptions of US Sailing and the applicable one-design class associations, except as any of these are altered by the Sailing Instructions. The low point scoring system Appendix A will apply. Each boat’s score will be the sum of all races.

Eligibility: This regatta is open to all one-design sailing dinghies and catamarans, such as Lido, Europe’s, Tasars, Lasers, Torch’s, Vanguard 15’s, Coronado 15’s, Snipes, Thistles, Day sailors, Flying Scots, Lightning’s, 420’s, 470’s, 505’s and A-Cats.

Racing: We are planning on sailing as many races as possible. The minimum for a regatta will be three races. There will be no races started after 3pm Sunday.

Registration: On-Line Registration will close midnight August 19. Cost is $40 ($50 after August 1st). In-person registration will open at Yale Lake on Saturday 8/24 at 9am.

Tent Camping Details: Tent camping at Cougar Group Camp will be available for 4pm Friday and Saturday nights with check out Sunday). We expect that our group camp site will accommodate all the tents that participants will use. However, only 15 vehicles are allowed to park in the group camp area. The Group area has a covered central cooking area with running water. Campsites are first come-first served. *The first 15 boats to register and pay for campsites will receive a hangtag that allows them to park in the camp site. This tag also covers the day use and parking fees for the park.

Cougar Campground is an alcohol free venue. Pets must be leashed at all times.

All other vehicles beyond the first 15 registrants, must purchase overnight parking passes at the campground and park their cars in the parking lot across the driveway from the camp site. Passes may be purchased either at the camp entry Booth or the Camp Host campsite in the campground area.

Camping at Cougar Group Camp: $30.00 for the weekend (Per Boat Registration).

Parking Passes: Required for all vehicles using the park. May be purchase from the camp host or on-line at $3 per day. Also see note (*) about group passes for the first 15.

Boat Ramp/Storage: There is a parking lot at the campground near the boat ramp where competitors can store their boats overnight on trailers, mast up. No charge for boat/trailer parking.

Yale Park and Saddle Dam Park also has an improved launching facility (mid-lake and dam area) that may be used. Parking passes may be used at either parks including Cougar and can be purchased from the camp host.

RV Camping: RVs are not allowed in the Cougar camp ground for overnight

Camping: This also means no “popup” tent trailers. You can get an RV camp spot at Beaver Bay campground (a mile or so down the lake) on a first come, first served basis. Weather at Cougar Washington: Yale Lake is at the foothills of Mt. Saint Helens. Average temperature during August should be 70-80’s with cooler nights. Afternoon/Evening rain showers may happen (bring rain gear).

We expect the fees to be as follows: $3 day use and $5 overnight for parking in the overflow lot just outside group site. (These fees apply to any vehicles that do not have one of the 15 hangtags). No charge for boat or trailer parking.

*Note: If you are one of the first 15 campers, you will receive a confirmation email. You MUST bring that confirmation and show it at the gate or you will have to pay to get into the park!

Saturday Post-Race Skipper’s (and crew) BBQ: Bring your own meat to grill, $7 Meal Ticket per person covers: bread, salad, chili and yummy dessert. WSC will provide the BBQ.

About the Lake: Yale Lake is a man-made lake located in the small valley below the slopes of Mt. Saint Helens. A building breeze can average between 8-15 knots running down the length of the lake making for ideal sailing conditions. The town of Cougar is within short distance of the group campground. Cougar has a restaurant, stores, RV. Sites, small motel and gas station.
