US Sailing Race Officer Workshop
February 16 and 17
INVITATION AND INFORMATION
INVITATION: Presented by US Sailing, this two-day Race Officer training workshop is open to everyone.
DESCRIPTION: Race Officials are sailors like you who volunteer their time because they enjoy the work and because they believe in the importance of giving back to the sport. They run races, make umpire calls on the water, hear protests and redress requests. Online testing for certification is included. Registrants will receive a link for online testing in the week before the start of the seminar. Online testing will be available for four weeks following the seminar. You do not need to take the test if you want the seminar for information but not for certification.
DATES AND TIMES: Saturday and Sunday, February 16 and 17. The workshop will be 0830 until 1730 hours.
LOCATION: Willamette Sailing Club, 6336 SW Beaver Avenue, Portland, OR.
MORE INFORMATION: The instructors for this Race Management Seminar are Jeffrey Zarwell, Charles Rathkopf, and Eric Rimkus. Topics include ensuring the safety of competitors and the race committee, choosing courses to give competitors the best possible races, adjusting the course in response to changing conditions, starting the fleet, finishing the fleet and scoring the event.
FEE: The $110 registration fee includes course materials, online testing, coffee, and lunch at the Willamette Sailing Club.
REGISTRATION: You must be a member of US Sailing to register. When you, enroll in the seminar, you will have a choice to log-in or to purchase a membership at a discounted rate. Then you continue on with the seminar registration. To register, go HERE.
