Welcome to the Willamette Snipe Fleet 533
The Willamette Snipe Fleet races Snipes in Portland on the Willamete River. We would love to have others join us. Do not hesitate to ask us about sailing a Snipe!
About the Snipe
The Snipe is a 15 1/2 foot, 2 person, one design racing dingy. Designed in 1931 by William Crosby as a smaller, easily trailerable sailboat which can be rigged and launched quickly, the Snipe has evolved into a moden tactical dingy. The boat is recognized by the International Sailing Federation as an International Class and is sailed in 26 different countries by sailors ranging in skill level from recreational sailors to Olympic champion. There have been over 30,000 Snipes constructed worldwide and both new and affordable used boats are available.
