About High School Sailing

Portland High School Sailing Team

Enrollment in high school sailing is open to students attending any Portland/Vancouver area high school, public or private. Previous sailing experience is recommended but not required. All participants must be able to swim, commit to regular practices, and provide their own life jackets and appropriate sailing clothing. Parents are expected to share in the volunteer duties at weekend regattas.

Eligibility:
Open to 7th – 12th graders
Novice and experienced sailors are welcome to join the team.
Membership at Willamette Sailing Club is REQUIRED to participate in spring & fall programs. See Membership information HERE.

Swimming Ability & Capsize Recovery:
All sailors will complete a swim test and capsize recovery at the beginning of every season. This is required before sailors get in a boat on the first day of regular practice.
